Counselor In Training
C.I.T. Program
The Counselor in Training (CIT) Program at Sugar Sweet Farm is a leadership experience for teens who are ready to grow in responsibility, confidence, and care for others.

For some participants, CIT is a natural next step after years of loving Farm Camp. For others, it’s their very first introduction to Sugar Sweet Farm. Both are welcome. What matters most is a genuine interest in contributing to a kind, respectful, and joyful camp community.

CIT is designed as a leadership curriculum as much as it is a camp experience. Teens learn by doing—practicing teamwork, empathy, initiative, and problem-solving in a real-world setting—while helping create the warm, safe atmosphere that defines our farm.

Eligibility
CIT is for teens ages 13 to 16. Participants must have turned 13 by June 1.

Dates & Schedule
CIT runs in weekly, 5-day sessions. Please see the weekly session dates listed below.
Hours: 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Tuition
Each 5-day CIT session is $555 per week.
(If your family would like to inquire about financial assistance, please see our Tuition Assistance section below.)
Program Overview
CITs receive practical instruction and hands-on experience in the art of counseling at Sugar Sweet Farm. Through daily classes led by our Staff Development Directors, participants learn how to support campers and animals, assist with activities, model kindness, and contribute to the overall flow of the camp day.

Under the mentorship of senior counselor leaders, CITs gradually take on responsibility at a pace that supports confidence and success. Whether a teen arrives with years of farm experience or is brand new to the environment, our program is structured to guide, support, and encourage growth.

At its heart, CIT is about learning to lead with generosity, attentiveness, and care—for oneself, for others, and for the living world around us.

How to Apply
We accept CIT applications on a rolling basis. Please click the link below to complete an application.
Selected applicants will receive a registration link to enroll in a session. We recommend applying early, as space is limited and groups are intentionally small. Because our program is small and highly relational, we carefully review each application to ensure the CIT experience is a good fit for both the participant and the camp community.

Tuition Assistance
We offer limited tuition assistance for families in need. Please email us to learn more about our Campership program and application process.
